Este boasts at having New York Style Pizza and it does not fail. It's one of the best imitations of New York Style Pizza I have ever had! And the appetizers and desserts takes this place to a whole new level. (By the notice, I love how their sign/logo resembles the MTA!)
We started off with an order of Garlic Knots, handmade bite size knots of dough baked to perfection, smothered in fresh garlic, olive oil, and oregano, served with homemade marinara sauce. These little bites were loaded with tons of garlic, just the way I like it! There was no need to dip into the marinara sauce and we were fighting for the last few.
I ordered a slice of plain pizza as a gauge and a slice of specialty slice filled with Black Forest Ham, ricotta cheese, and olives. As soon as the slices came out, I was really excited after seeing how thin they were! I placed a fork and knife by the side for a size comparison. These two slices were so great! Thin crust, chewy, plenty of cheese, just the right amount of sauce, but not as greasy.
Since there was a mix up with our orders, we received a free order of Zeppoles, small traditional Italian doughnuts dusted with cinnamon and sugar and served with honey. My mouth is watering just thinking about these tiny things! These tiny doughnuts were sweet enough as is, but I loved dipping them in honey as well. Already stuffed after eating the Garlic Knots and huge slices of pizza, I packed these to go.
I thought I should also show you guys this picture of a random pigeon we found on a car outside of Este. Originally, we all thought its talons were stuck between the glass and the weather stripping. After spending about 10-15 minutes trying to assist the bird, the bird flew up away from us and landed in the same exact spot! I guess this was just a vain pigeon wanting to stare at its own reflection for hours.
Anyways, I thoroughly enjoyed everything we had at Este Pizzeria and wholeheartedly recommend this place to all of those looking for some good pizzeria. Everything is reasonably prices and there are two locations, one Downtown and one in Sugarhouse. I'm glad that I no longer have to wait until my trip back east to have some New York Style Pizza!
