This will be one of the several posts dedicated to my yearly visit back east.
Thank you for joining me as I reflect back on my trip and food adventures.  Enjoy~

When my friend Yvo of The Feisty Foodie suggested Nyonya for dinner, I had absolutely no objections.  Funnily enough, the last time we had met up for dinner, we had also chosen Malaysian cuisine at Laut!  (We also had ice cream afterwards last time and this time too so I guess this is now our "thing".)

We arrived to put our name on the list and the wait wasn't too long.  Long enough for our whole party to arrive to be seated in the crowd restaurant.

I had saved my stomach all day for dinner so went a bit crazy ordering a ton of dishes!

I ordered Crispy Pork Intestines to start off.  These can't possibly be healthy for you, but whenever I see it on the menu, I have to order it.  The combination of crispy and salty with a hint of freshness inside from the scallion is the best!  This came with a dipping sauce that I didn't try as this dish was great on its own.

Next up, an order of Homemade Roti Canai, a crispy style pancake with curry dipping sauce.  I think our whole table had maybe four or five orders of this.  With that many orders being requested, you know this dish is definitely a classic.  This was more chewy than it was crispy and the sauce was still to die for.  Way too spicy for me, but I still managed a few bites.

And my last appetizer, Nyonya Satay, a choice of marinated chicken or beef on skewers, served with peanut sauce.  I preferred the beef over the chicken and this peanut sauce was also too spicy for me.

For my entree, I chose my favorite, Hainanese Chicken with Rice, chicken rice subtly flavored with steamed chicken with bone (room temperature) served with chef's special soy sauce.  This dish can't be done wrong!  I was sad to see that there were no cucumbers swimming in the chef's special soy sauce underneath the chicken, but the dish itself was still quite refreshing.

Before you all think I'm pigging out, I didn't eat everything myself!  I happily shared all my dishes with the rest of the table.

To finish my meal at Nyonya, my brother decided to prank me by telling our waiters it was my birthday.  Only the waiters had messed it up.  haha  He never forgot when I embarrassed him for his birthday at Penang many many years ago!

I believe this dish was fried ice cream with some strawberry drizzle.  After having such a big meal, I wasn't able to really dig into this, but it was great for the fun factor!

Overall, Nyonya was a satisfying experience.  A bustling restaurant with good food and once again, great company.  I definitely want to return and try some of their other appetizers and some of their noodles dishes.  I suggest you also give Nyonya a visit as well!
