This will be one of the several posts dedicated to my yearly visit back east.
Thank you for joining me as I reflect back on my trip and food adventures. Enjoy~

I was introduced to Salt Creek Grille several years back and never really had the chance to frequent the restaurant often. I thought it appropriate to revisit the establishment since I now live in Salt Lake City. Salt Creek, Salt Lake, Salt Lake, Salt Creek. Yes, I'm silly like that.
Some soft sour dough bread to start our meal off. Soft, chewy interior with a crunchy crust. I loved how they served the bread in a basket with a fake newspaper wrapping.
I ordered the The Grille Chop, wood-fired double pork cut pork chop, mashed Yukon golds, seasonal vegetables with spiced apple chutney and roasted shallot-thyme butter. I remember having the pork chop twice the few times I had visited previously and hoped to gauge the restaurant by what I remembered. This dish was nothing like I remembered. The pork and mash potatoes were too dry, and the seasonal vegetables a bit wanting.
My friend ordered the Porterhouse Stroganoff, sliced, natural filet and New York steak, caramelized onions and mushrooms over pappardelle pasta with Cabernet demi glace with sour cream. I don't recall what she thought about her dish, but I do remember there being plenty for her to pack up for her lunch the next day.
For dessert, we knew beforehand that we would be ordering the Chocolate Ganache Soufflé, made to order, fresh baked double chocolate soufflé, finished table-side with warm chocolate ganache, whipped cream, and a sprinkle of powdered sugar. The menu clearly states that "This special dessert takes 25 minutes to prepare." Our waiter timed the dessert perfectly as it arrived soon after we were done with our entrees.
This Chocolate Ganache Soufflé did not fair well. It was also too dry. But the ganache was to die for! I could definitely eat the chocolate ganache by the spoonful if allowed!
Sadly, Salt Creek Grille is not as I remembered. The meal was decent, but unmemorable. Everything was too dry. I don't believe I will be revisiting Salt Creek Grille again any time soon for food. However, Salt Creek Grille does have a bar and live bands so I may revisit for entertainment.
